The second annual SAVS Volunteer Awards took place last night, celebrating the extraordinary individuals and organisations that make Southend-on-Sea such a special place.
Founded by Christine Nichols and delivered in partnership with SAVS (Southend Association of Voluntary Services), the awards recognise the city’s thriving voluntary sector – a community of more than 400 charities supported by an incredible 9,000 volunteers.
This year’s event, held on October 23rd, 2025, in the Maritime Room at the Cliffs Pavilion, once again shone a light on the selfless contributions of volunteers who dedicate their time, energy, and compassion to helping others.
Atlantic Pacific returned as the lead sponsor for 2025, reaffirming its commitment to Southend’s voluntary community and sponsoring the Young Volunteer Award to honour the next generation of changemakers.
Southend-on-Sea is a city defined by its diversity and vibrancy, home to a tapestry of communities that together form its unique spirit. The volunteers of Southend are the backbone of this community, working tirelessly to create an inclusive, supportive, and thriving city.
Their collective efforts not only bridge cultural and social divides but also help make the City Vision and its priorities a lived reality for everyone.
The SAVS Volunteer Awards stand as a heartfelt tribute to these everyday heroes – the people whose quiet acts of kindness and dedication continue to enrich Southend and inspire others to give back.
